The Art of Body Singing treats the serious student of voice to a meticulous, well organized journey, centered around the mechanics and techniques necessary in high performance singing. Body Singing adheres to the same essentials that any fine instrument-maker swears by: high quality design, high quality materials, and high quality assembly. Thus, the first concept of Body Singing: the voice is an instrument, assembly required. The system offers a methodical approach to vocal training, incorporating both classical and contemporary techniques. It is designed to teach proper vocal hygiene, high performance singing skills, personal style development and a professional outlook for ongoing growth long after leaving the teacher's side.
Most systems of vocal training, both historically and currently, are oriented in a coaching fashion, where students begin singing right away and are given only the vaguest tips on how to improve technically. And while there can certainly be a lot to learn from a coaching situation, i.e. repertoire training, sight reading, performance skills etc., these subjects can not be compared to vocal mechanics training. In the past, the only place to get really decent vocal mechanics training was from a good opera program. The drawback being you received training via a style, and that usually meant no matter what type of music you might later sing, you would probably sound like an opera singer trying to sing something else.
So what's the answer? The answer is a high level system of vocal training based on technique and not style. A system based on the ear as the first component of the voice, and then linking the ear to the series of physical feelings connected with producing sound from the body. The result being your own personal style of singing vs. singing on auto-pilot using muscle memory or pure imitation as the outcome of song coaching.
There is a lot of information and mis-information in the world concerning voice production. I have personally trained with some of the best vocal trainers, and some of
the worst. I have spent countless hours with the more notorious published systems of voice
as well as some of the least noteworthy. I have spent many a late night experimenting
with techniques in search of that "Holy Grail Tone." So, after twelve years of
singing, both as a student and as a professional, I set out to structure a system for
vocal training. I truly wanted to create a balanced system incorporating the most
effective information I had learned or discovered along my journey. Over five years later,
the result is The Art of Body Singing. My belief is that I can literally save a
student several years in their attempts to clearly understand the instrument called voice.
I must also credit my experience in the martial arts
as much of my influence in structuring The Art of Body Singing. Good martial
arts' systems are taught from the ground up and add bit by bit to a solid foundation of
learning. The Art of Body Singing borrows this systematic method of teaching and
is designed for all levels of singers. Beginners will enjoy the fact that The Art of
Body Singing starts literally at the beginning and clearly outlines how the
instrument works in everyday terminology. Advanced singers will be ecstatic as they
discover clear answers to often glossed over questions of voice, while learning to use
effective tools to conquer the brick walls they often come up against when trying to
improve.
The voice like any other instrument is a lifelong
pursuit; The Art of Body Singing will be an ongoing source of inspiration and information
unlike any other in this world.
Truly Yours,

Breck Alan
The Art of Body Singing is:
- a clearly spoken singing method book for all singers of all styles of music.
- an easy to use manual for discovering your entire voice as a powerful instrument.
- a great guide to learn about keeping your voice healthy and restoring a damaged voice to health
- a series of great exercises, techniques, ideas and examples to help you discover and develop the potential and possibilities of your singing and speaking voice.
The Art of Body Singing is NOT:
- filled up with the tired old musical standards you've seen in other vocal instruction books. Instead it is page after page of techniques and ideas to apply to music of your choice immediately.
- the vague voice coaching you see in many contemporary vocal instruction books. Instead it teaches clear, real world vocal necessities for everyone from the hobby singer to the touring Pro.
- the snobby language used in teaching specific styles of singing. It is taught in everyday language and geared towards the individual pursuing any and all styles of singing.
